larry cyr: seattle, WA, United States; I am a graphic designer and stencil artist in Seattle, Wa. My approach to art comes from a background in photo journalism, art history and graphic design. For me stenciling is an extension of those three disciplines. Stencils take an image and break it down into individual elements to express emotion. My stencils are a reaction to the current technology that produces flawless illustrations and graphics. Printmaking processes such as stenciling, which are full of minor imperfections, reflect the reality of life and convey emotions in a way that is unachievable in other mediums.
